Eclipse Module: Solar Assembly

The solar assembly is likely the simplest, in addition to the tube there is a brass hub at the top which holds two pointers (sun and anti-sun), one bright brass and one blackened brass. The coaxiality of these pointers is important, so they are located by a V-groove machined in the hub prior to installing it. They were each bonded in while being held in with a needle ensuring they were seated in the V. Finally, a small dial is installed which constitutes the innermost of the eclipse module. The arm above it will be the lunar position so it indicates the moon position relative to the sun, or the elongation (moon phase).
