Offset Cam: Roller Follower

By Spencer Connor

A more practical alternative to a point follower but resulting in the same motion (with the same advantage/concerns regarding high O/r ratios). However the use of a roller mitigates the friction concern. The roller radius essentially just becomes a part of the cam radius since the contact point is necessarily directly inline with the cam geometric center and the roller center. The magnitude of the oscillation is simply the offset between the cam center and the rotation center, O, same as a point follower and flat follower.
