Lantern Pinion Design Change

I’ve decided to implement a design change that facilitates a second. That is to change the 1st pinion, which is the one that mates to the maintaining power output and thus sees the most load, with a lantern pinion. This is an experimental attempt to help the uneven ticking issue previously encountered, but additionally allows for the jewel bearing adjacent to it to be swapped to a ball bearing that can much more comfortably take the lateral load. The lantern pinion trundles are 1/32” hardened dowel pins, which should have better surface finish and material compatibility with the mating brass involute gear. Furthermore, which the lantern to involute mesh is theoretically non-ideal from a constant speed perspective it is more tolerant of depthing variation which is more important in this application.
